What does it mean for you taking the challenge of being the CEO?
It is obviously a very exciting challenge and a dream for any businessman endowed with an entrepreneurial mindset to be offered the opportunity to be at the start of a unique and ambitious long-term initiative.
Coming from Europe, the educational aspect of the initiative echoed to me as a new approach, and is particularly wise and full of optimism. The idea of bringing, developing, sharing and ultimately transmitting knowledge and experience is not only captivating but also extremely positive. It is a conscious step into the future.
What is your vision for QLG?
A strong entrepreneurial spirit is what best defines our Group today and it is this spirit which we need to take us forward.
Qatar Luxury Group is to become a coherent group of strong brands; each of them with its own unique identity, a desire to share a common search for excellence, a strong creativity, an openness to the world and a keen sense of culture which denotes a pure respect for time honoured traditions.
To take Qatar Luxury Group into the future, I rely on people's unique knowledge. The involvement of the best craftsmen in the development of a product is also a constant consideration. On this basis, we are in the process of creating new brands focused on excellence and endowed with a strong personality. In parallel, we will also manage and develop existing brands matching our values.
The Group's strategy is based on a constant dialogue between acute creativity, recognized knowledge and traditional craftsmanship.
What developments are you considering to strengthen the Group?
Today the Group is committed to the luxury fashion sector in the larger sense. We are involved in the leather goods, shoes and accessories, jewelry and high-end ready-to-wear sectors.
Prior to developing our fashion business, we took the time to create and organize a fantastic tool that will allow us to control and achieve the uncompromising product quality we aim for. We established state-of-the- art maroquinerie, souliers, joaillerie and couture workshops in Doha, equipped with the perfect material and lead by experienced and talented craftsmen.
We are also active in the hospitality sector and are developing an exciting upcoming project with the opening of a 3-star Michelin restaurant in collaboration with a worldwide famous chef in Doha at the end of this year.
Ultimately, we are considering expanding into sectors such as cosmetics and the health & well-being industry, as targeted development areas for the Group.
Our team is both young and experienced: a perfect combination of energy, creativeness and knowledge of the business. This is an ideal mix for a company in development, allowing us to aim for the highest long-term goals.
What are the benefits in operating from the Middle-East?
As a Qatari company, our geographic location midway between Europe and Asia is ideal. It is a perfect position to deploy our retail network, observe and keep in touch with the world's trends.
